Multiple Credit card Applications
for the Same Timespan
Q. I've applied
for more than one card at the same time. But both cards have the same
interest free time period, and when I fill out my details for the second
card I get an error message.
A. This is
unusual but it does happen. It only happens if you try to have more
than one Alert account open at the same time for the same time
period.
Our third party
software is highly respected and has been in use for years. It has a
number of built-in features designed to prevent things like spam, abuse
and overloading the system. In this case, more than one Alert account
for the same time period is not permitted using the same
email address.
There are several
solutions:
1. If your 6 month
(for example) card expires, and you transfer the balance to another
6 month card, you must first cancel the existing 6 month Alert account
(by clicking on the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails you
receive from us). Then you're free to open the other one, with the
same email address, for the second card.
2. If you wish
to apply for more than one card with the same time period at
the same time, then you must use a different email address
for each subsequent card. So just start another email name (or alias)
on your email account as many times as you wish (e.g. name1@emailaccount.com,
name2@emailaccount.com, etc.)
3. If your email
account only permits one username then you can open a free email account
with numerous other suppliers. Type in "free email account"
into your web browser. Popular ones are Hotmail and Yahoo. You
might also wish to have a look at http://www.emailaddresses.com/guide_types.htm
You may wish to
have these other email accounts redirected to your normal email account,
so you don't have to login into different accounts. For good advice
on the different options available go to http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_forward.htm
Do I Have to Apply for a
Card from This Site to Use the Alert Service?
Q. I'd like
to use the credit card alert service, but I've just applied for a card
from my own bank. Can I use your alert service to remind me when my
own bank's credit card zero interest period is up?
A. Yes, of
course. Whenever you apply for a card outside of this website just go
into the email alert section and follow
the instructions in the normal way, just as if you had applied for a
card from within this site.
Can I Use the Alert Service
with my Existing Card?
Q. I took
out a card from another source a couple of months or so ago. It would
be good if I could use your alert service to remind me when I had to
transfer my balance to another card. Can I still use your service to
allow me to do this?
A. Certainly.
Firstly you'd have to look at when you originally took out the card
and check when the interest free period is set to expire. Then just
go to our existing cards page, read the instructions
at the top of the page, then scroll down to the relevant week when you
want to be reminded to transfer your balance. Our automatic system does
the rest.
